Meet Cheri Schroeder
Welcome to my story!
I have taught for over 30 years - my own children (from first grade through high school), other people's children (including art classes in Africa!) and adults. So, when my granddaughter was diagnosed as dyslexic, my husband was certain that I should fly across the country to work with her. In preparation, he bought the book The Gift of Dyslexia by Ron Davis and enthused his way through it. As he started to explain the symptoms described, I immediately recognized the struggles I had experienced when teaching our youngest daughter. She was a freshman in college at that point, spending a great deal of time in tears, fainting in class and social withdrawal. The basic format of the Davis® Program is given at the back of the book and I decided to attempt it. Her life changed! Reading and writing came more freely; she started to participate in class, and help others.
So that was it - the beginning. I then did the program with my granddaughter who is now reading large books (on her own and for fun!) as well as complicated violin music. Working with individuals from ages 9 - 55, I have seen change, strengthened abilities, self-confidence and, most importantly, joy in my clients. Now, as a licensed facilitator certified by the Davis®Dyslexia Association, I look forward to working with you!
